The demand for that tire has since skyrocketed, but there are some applications that really should be running a deeper R-2 tread," says Scott Sloan, global ag product manager at Titan. "We've been hearing from a lot of growers in the southeast, the Dakotas, southern Minnesota, and elsewhere that they wanted an LSW1400 option in an R-2. We're excited to now offer that. We think it'll be a game changer for them." This new tire is the latest addition to the radial Goodyear Custom Flo Grip line. These are intended for use on combines on farming operations that have 60% to 80% wet fields, giving farmers the option for more flotation in these conditions. "The lugs are quite a bit further apart, the angle is different, which helps with the cleaning," says Sloan. "When the tractor pulls through a field, it pumps the mud out in front of the tires." The new R-2 is rated for travel at 25 mph, and a rated load of up to 32,000 pounds. With its low sidewall design, vehicles equipped with the large R-2 can road at full speeds. It has 40% reduced inflation pressures and features a footprint improvement, spreading the lower inflation pressures over a larger area, making for less soil compaction and field rutting. With more surface area — and power — to the ground, the new tires have improved traction, especially when working in wet field conditions. The Goodyear Custom Flo Grip comes with a 10-year warranty, including a 2-year no-cost replacement, 2-year field hazard protection, and 3-year stubble damage protection. This tire is currently in an early testing phase, with plans for full availability by the 2024 harvest season. For more information about the LSW1400/30R46 tire, visit Titan-Intl.com.
