Aker Solutions has secured a new contract from Equinor to deliver a subsea compression module for the Åsgard gas field offshore Norway.
The ‘sizeable’ contract is said to be worth between Nkr200m ($22.23m) to Nkr700m ($77.82m).
The scope of the works will include the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) of the subsea compression module for the Åsgard subsea gas compression system.
This will be the fifth module to be delivered by Aker Solutions for the offshore gas project.
According to an Aker Solutions statement, the new system will be a copy of the fourth module and will be developed partly using existing equipment.
The contract works will begin immediately.
Aker Solutions CEO Kjetel Digre said: “We are pleased to be awarded another important contract by Equinor at the Åsgard field.
“This award continues to demonstrate the value of our leading subsea gas compression technology and is closely aligned with our strategy to deliver solutions that help the industry drive towards more sustainable energy production, with a lower environmental footprint versus traditional solutions.”
The company will conduct most of the engineering works at its offices in Fornebu, Norway, while its Egersund yard will be responsible for the fabrication work.
The subsea compression module is expected to be ready for delivery in August 2024.
Aker Solutions also delivered the current Åsgard subsea gas compression system that has been in operation for six years.
Located in Haltenbanken in the Norwegian Sea, the Åsgard field development is one of the largest developments on the Norwegian continental shelf (NCS).
The field delivers approximately 11 billion cubic metres of gas per year.
