ConocoPhillips Skandinavia has awarded Aker Solutions a contract for modifications on the Ekofisk installations to integrate the Tommeliten Alpha discovery, offshore Norway.
Aker will be responsible for the engineering, procurement, construction, and installation work for topside modifications on some installations at the Ekofisk complex to tie-back and integrate the Tommeliten Alpha field development.
Work under the contract is planned to start immediately with completion scheduled in the third quarter of 2023.
Aker Solutions’ offices in Fornebu and Stavanger in Norway will lead the work. Construction work is planned to be carried out at the companies’ yard in Egersund while the offshore work will be undertaken at the Ekofisk Complex.
Aker Solutions classified this contract as ‘large contract’, which means it could worth between $13m (Nkr1.2bn) and $231m (Nkr2bn).
The contract follows the final investment decision for the Tommeliten Alpha project by the license partners and the completion of the front-end engineering and design (FEED) work. The FEED contract was awarded to Aker Solutions in 2020.
Previously, Aker secured contracts for the subsea production system, as well as umbilicals and direct electrical heating (DEH) systems, for the Tommeliten Alpha development project.
In a press statement, Aker said: “This means Aker Solutions, to date, has won contracts with a combined value of more than $310.7m (Nkr2.7bn) for this field development.
“Combined with previous subsea contracts for this field development, the contract award means Aker Solutions has been assigned an integrated responsibility for this field development.”
The Tommeliten Alpha is a discovery in the southern portion of the Norwegian North Sea. It is located about 25km south-west of the Ekofisk field, in water depths of 75m.
The development of the Tommeliten Alpha field is subject to final regulatory approval by Norwegian and UK authorities.
