Engineering firm JGC, in partnership with Technip Energies, has received a contract from UTM FLNG to provide front-end engineering and design (FEED) for the proposed floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) facility project in Nigeria.
UTM Offshore will handle the development, design, and construction of the FLNG project, which will have a nameplate production capacity of 1.2 million metric tons per annum.
To be located 60km from the shore of Akwa Ibom state, the FLNG project will also have a storage capacity of 200,000m³ and ancillary facilities.
Under the contract, the consortium of JGC and Technip Energies will provide FEED for the proposed FLNG plant and complete it in December 2023.
JGC will design the FLNG facility’s topside, including LNG production facilities. Technip Energies will design the hull and the mooring system.
In 2021, UTM Offshore, indigenous private company and the parent company of UTM FLNG Limited, selected JGC Corporation to provide conceptual design services for the FLNG project.
In a press statement, JGC Corporation said: “We believe this award duly reflects the satisfaction of the client with the conceptual design performed by JGC Corporation, as well as the outstanding track record and project execution capabilities of the JGC Group and Technip Energies in the field of FLNG.”
The proposed plant will be equipped to process 176 million standard cubic feet per day of natural gas and condensate produced at the Yoho field.
Earlier this year, African Export-Import Bank (Afreximbank) agreed to partly finance UTM Offshore’s FLNG project in Nigeria.
