Global Acrylonitrile capacity is poised to see considerable growth over the next five years, potentially increasing from 8.24Mtpa in 2021 to 10.74Mtpa in 2026, registering total growth of 30%. Around 15 planned and announced plants are slated to come online, primarily in Asia and FSU.

Within Asia, China has ten planned Acrylonitrile capacity additions, with a total capacity of about 2.23Mtpa by 2026. The country is expected to spend a capital expenditure (capex) of $2.3bn. The main capacity addition will be from China National Offshore Oil Corp.

In FSU, the capacity addition is from Russia with the capacity additions of about 0.01 mtpa. The country is expected to spend a total of US$0.019 billion by 2026. The capacity addition is from the planned project Tatneft Almetyevsk Acrylonitrile Plant.

China National Offshore Oil Corp and Jiangsu Shenghong Group Co Ltd will be the top two companies globally in terms of planned and announced capacity additions over the upcoming years.
