"Proper crop nutrition is the foundation for high yields," says Jason Haegele, Agronomy Manager for WinField United.

There are many resources available to help you identify the proper amounts of nutrients for a fertility program, but timing and source of nutrition can be just as important.

"Build on your existing successes by using modern tools to identify and address the remaining barriers to continued gains in yields and nutrient use efficiency," recommends Haegele. "These include approaches like in-season soil sampling (late spring nitrate and wet soil potassium tests), tissue testing, crop modeling tools, and strategies to improve plant nutrient uptake (placement, equipment and fertilizer stabilizers)."
