Photo: Illinois Soybean Association The Illinois Soybean Association is hosting a series of farm events this summer covering the latest techniques and technologies in soybean production, while also networking with fellow farmers and industry experts. “Soybean production issues are different in every region of Illinois,” Illinois Soybean Association outreach agronomist Stephanie Porter says. “We’ve planned three half-day Field Talks and one Tailgate Talk to deliver the latest agronomic information and advice with a focus on managing through lower commodity prices.” Partnerships with local community colleges have led to practical, hands-on demonstrations of a variety of tools that farmers can implement in the upcoming crop year. “We are trying to work with others to produce quality field days rather than a quantity of them,” Porter says. “We are trying to make them more meaningful for Illinois growers, which is why we are partnering with organizations like the Illinois Fertilizer and Chemical Association and regional community colleges.” Participants gather to learn soybean production techniques and technologies at an ILSoy Advisor Field Talk. Illinois Soybean Association These events are the fruit of feedback from Illinois soybean growers in years past. “This is something that our soybean growers have requested; they have asked us in our year-end surveys for more hands-on, demonstration-type field days,” Porter says. “I would recommend growers come with questions, as it will be a conversational environment.” CCA credits will be available for guests who attend any of the ISA Field Talk or Tailgate Talk events.
