Successful Farming's Editorial Guidelines Published on May 19, 2016 Close Zoetis has added to its implant portfolio with the introduction of Synovex One Feedlot and Grass implants. The implants deliver up to 200 days of performance in feedlot and stocker steers and heifers. The patented pore-forming polymer barrier on the implants extends performance, which means twice the duration of conventional uncoated formulations. "Extended-duration implants require less labor and cause less stress on both personnel and livestock," says Gary Sides, managing nutritionist, beef strategic technical services at Zoetis. "For feedlot and stocker producers, an implant of long duration provides simplicity and convenience for specific classes of cattle without sacrifice of either feedlot performance or quality grade."The new formulations not only help producers achieve their marketing goals and provide additional flexibility in managing labor, but they also simplify implant programs, reduce the need to keep an inventory of different implants, and eliminate the need to train processing crews on different applicators since all Synovex implant formulations are administered with the SX10 Precision Applicator.Studies reveal that both products offer the following advantages: 1. Feedlot steers saw a 15% improvement in average daily gain (ADG) and a 9.8% improvement in feed efficiency over non-implanted steers when given One Feedlot. 2. Heifers who received One Feedlot saw a 12% increase in ADG and a 7% improvement in feed efficiency. 3. Steers given One Grass had a 17.2% improvement in gain over nonimplanted steers. 4. Heifers achieved an 11.3% increase in ADG with One Grass. To learn more, contact your Zoetis representative, or visit GrowWithSYNOVEX.com. Was this page helpful? Thanks for your feedback!
