Band Saw

The list includes a band saw with a 5-inch cutting capacity, a 38-pound welder, a battery-operated welder, and the largest welding screen on the market.

  1. The M18 FUEL Deep Cut Band Saw from Milwaukee Tool (top right) offers a 5×5-inch cutting width and depth. Powered by a brushless motor, the saw delivers faster cutting speeds (380 feet per minute) than similar corded units. Features include all-day operation on one charge, Job Site Armor Technology that protects the tool from drops and debris, and a gear-protecting clutch.
  2. Miller Electric's Digital Infinite series helmets provide a 13.4-square-inch viewing area, four arc sensors, and four operating modes that include weld, cut, grind, and X-Mode. That last mode prevents sunlight from darkening the lens before welding starts. The suggested price is $370.50.
  3. Capable of welding up to 3/8-inch material in a single pass, the Millermatic 211 allows you to select from five wire and gas combinations as well as handle .024-inch wire capability. Features include a Fan-On-Demand cooling system, Multi-Voltage Plug (that fits 120- or 240-volt receptacles), and Quick Select drive roll setup. List price is $1,159.
  4. Packing an internal battery, DeWalt's DCW100K weighs less than 25 pounds, but it turns out 140 amps of stick and 150 amps of TIG power to tackle light-duty welding chores. The welder includes an external charger and can also be plugged into a 20-amp circuit. Features include a digital display and hot-start/soft-start setting. List price is $4,799.
