The Alterra 600 EPS four-wheeler features a new engine, drivetrain, and chassis for more power, and was designed to be easier to service. Power and performance specifics This 45-hp. machine is powered by a 600-cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine. This engine was designed and built by Arctic Cat in St. Cloud, Minnesota, and features an overhead-cam design. To ensure plenty of airflow, the vehicle has an oversized air filter and high intake mounts. It also features a new Artic Cat tuned CVTech CVT system and a more durable transmission. This CVT system was first launched on the company's snowmobiles last year. The system has Trialblock drive and Invance driven clutches for more performance, smooth low-speed engagement, and long life. Operators will appreciate faster acceleration, smoother power delivery, and a throttle response that will not fade over time, the company claims. The CVT system's large belt and improved cooling results in minimized wear and longer belt life. The Alterra 600 EPS's new chassis has a lower center of gravity than previous models and better balance for more rider stability. A new steering geometry and standard electronic power steering (EPS) make the machine more nimble. The machine's dual A-arm front and rear suspension provide 9 inches of travel and up to 12.25 inches of ground clearance to navigate uneven terrain. This model's large disk brakes are quieter than previous models. The half shafts, ball joints, and bushings on the Alterra 600 EPS have been improved to make the machine more durable. Servicing the machine is simple with tool-less snap-fit panels to access the oil fill and other critical components. The Alterra 600 EPS has a 2-inch receiver hitch with a 1,050-pound capacity for towing trailers or tools. Steel racks on the vehicle offer more hauling options. The front rack has a 100-pound capacity, while the rear rack can handle 200 pounds. Total machine capacity is 515 pounds. Operator comfort To keep heat off the rider, the exhaust on the Altera 600 EPS is routed down and out the middle of the vehicle. With a capacity of 5.7 gallons, it also has the largest gas tank in its class, so farmers can get more work done between fill-ups. Large footwells accommodate a variety of riders and bulky footwear. They also provide protection from hazards on the ground and mud or manure. Electronic 4WD engagement makes switching from two- to four-wheel drive on-the-fly easy. A 0.6-gallon storage compartment under the handlebars is a handy place to stash a phone, gloves, or small tools. Accessories and options Arctic Cat and Garmin partnered to easily integrate the new Tread Powersport Navigator onto the Alterra 600 EPS. The Garmin accessory can be installed on a highly visible panel right above the gauge for a seamless look and easy access. Arctic Cat The Alterra 600 EPS is offered with four different trim levels.
