Kuhn launches Dominator disc ripper line

The Dominator is designed for even conditioner flow by placing coulters ahead of shanks.

Kuhn is introducing the Dominator line of disc rippers with two new models designed for optimal compaction removal and residue handling.

Kuhn has placed large, 25-inch diameter coulters ahead of the shanks on the Dominator disc rippers to size residue, ensuring flow through the machine and to evenly pass through the rear conditioner. A hydraulic system maintains constant down pressure one the soil and can be adjusted to different ground conditions.

Both models are equipped with a reverse-tandem conditioner, built with a new C-arm and independently-mounted blades on a 6-bolt hub for easy maintenance. The C-arm and bolt hub allow more soil and residue flow through the conditioner in adverse field conditions, according to Kuhn.

The models are also designed for minimal maintenance. Wheel hubs will need to be maintained seasonally, and wear parts may need to be replaced, but there are no daily grease points across the disc rippers’ coulter gangs, disc conditioner, or conditioner reel bearings.

Dominator 4857

The 4857 model is available in 10-foot, 6-inch to 19-foot, 6-inch RTK working widths. This model is designed for maximum subsoil fracture and compaction removal, with two ranks of shanks at 18-inch effective spacing.

Dominator 4861

The 4861 is designed for higher productivity than its sister model. It’s available in 14-foot to 26-foot RTK working widths. Each shank is positioned between a pair of coulters to bring more soil to the surface with the shanks. Two ranks of shanks at offset 24-inch effective spacing are placed for effective residue flow, with no two shanks closer than 48 inches to each other.

Options

Kuhn’s double K 7-inch wing or 2.5-inch straight ripper points are available as an option on the Dominator for increased point wear life. Heavy-duty solid round bar conditioning reels are also available for durability in rocky soil conditions.

The Guardian Hitch is available as an option to guard against stress on the tractor’s drawbar and the implement frame. This is available on articulating ball Cat III, IV, or V depending on the disc ripper model.

Price and availability

The Kuhn Dominator disc ripper models are available to order now, with expected delivery in April and May 2024.

The Dominator 4857 models range in price from $101,000 to $196,000, and the Dominator 4861 models range from around $130,000 to $240,000.
