Walkabout Mother Bins has announced a new model with an over 6,000-bushel capacity — holding up to six to eight semi loads of grain.

The new bin is the second model in Walkabout’s lineup, adding an extra 2,000-bushel capacity from its previous 4,000-bin model. Both models are designed to eliminate bottlenecks that may occur during harvest by reducing the need for additional trips to the grain elevator.

This bin is designed to work in tandem with smaller tractors and grain carts, reducing soil compaction during harvest season.

The Mother Bin is also able to be used as seed tender during planting season while positioned in a central location to the fields.

The 6,000 bushel Walkabout Mother Bin has a minimum requirement of a 300-hp or higher tractor.

Bin features

The 6000 bushel Mother Bin comes in at 71 feet long, almost 15 feet wide, and over 13 feet high — almost 20 feet longer than the standard 53-foot semi trailer. Despite its size, the Mother Bin is mobile, with steering on all axles. The front tires automatically steer in the direction of the towing vehicle, while the rear are hydraulically controlled from a lever in the cab.

Split front and rear flow gates help to blend grain, and the bin has a 22-inch Elmer’s unload auger with four-way auger spout, capable of unloading up to 900 bushels per minute.

The bin also has an Agri-Cover electric roll tarp to protect grain from weather. Other features include a rear access door, full length cleanout doors, and an optional downforce hitch.
