"GSI Connect is the complete platform for all GSI smart equipment in the future," says Christoph Zecha, global product manager for AGCO. "We started with the dryer because farmers we talked to said it was the most critical equipment on their farm." The app allows farmers to monitor their dryer's performance with near real-time information to help farmers minimize risk, improve drying consistency, and provide savings on operational costs. Farmers will be able to connect up to three portable modules, and up to six fans. GSI With the GSI Connect app, farmers will be able to remotely see the same information and control almost all functions of the dryer as if they were standing there directly in front of it. The app will send alerts if there's a shutdown or error with the dryer. "In short, the only thing you can't do from the app is start the system," says Alan Lockwood, product manager for AGCO. For safety purposes, users won't be able to turn fans or burners on, but everything else in the dryer can be adjusted from the application. Farmers will also be able to customize the user interface to prioritize certain data points at the forefront of the app. The GSI Connect digital platform only works with compatible dryers at the moment, but it will be expanded to other GSI equipment as more grain storage and handling systems become connect-ready. Lockwood expects this system will integrate other GSI software like the GrainVue management system in the future. Zecha adds once GSI's first-party equipment is integrated, they may expand to external equipment from competitors.
