It's no secret the pandemic has created supply chain challenges for businesses across the agriculture industry for more than a year. Equipment manufacturers have struggled to source steel, rubber, and computer chip components. Gearboxes for some Claas forage harvester heads have also been elusive.

To ensure the company has access to the components necessary to build their machines, Claas has opened a Pre-Sell Program to help with production planning. Pre-orders for the company's tractors, combines, and forage harvesters are open now until September 30, 2021.

"It's important for us to understand what products are needed for next year and that is why we have opened up our order books earlier than normal with an even broader line of incentives to farmers and contractors," explains Eric Raby, president and general manager of sales. "This line of sight on demand allows us to manufacture products more efficiently, and that is something we are sharing with our customers."

Incentives for farmers

In addition to more certain delivery timelines, farmers who order model year 2022 Claas equipment through the Pre-Sell Program will have the opportunity to take advantage of low interest rates and early order discounts.

What about Claas parts for this harvest?

The company says it is in pretty good shape to keep farmers supplied with parts during the busy harvest season ahead. However, early parts orders through Claas' On Your Farm Parts program are encouraged to ensure that high-wear items are already in farmers' hands before harvest.

"The On Your Farm Parts program lets you and your dealer decide which CLAAS parts you need, and then puts them on your farm before harvest," explains Daryl Theis, head of sales and marketing. "You use the parts you need throughout the harvest season and pay for the parts you used after harvest."
