Integrated tractor, planter solution introduced by John Deere

This complete package helps farmers plant more acres per day and apply higher rates of fertilizer.

Integrated tractor, planter solution introduced by John Deere

By updating its model year 2022 planters, John Deere is giving farmers the ability to apply higher rates of liquid fertilizer while reducing the stops to fill and tender. As part of a factory-installed, integrated ExactRate solution, the redesigned planters eliminate the need for add-on tanks and custom plumbing solutions and multiple suppliers.

With up to 600 gallons of holding capacity, the new fluid tanks feature air-bleed and overflow protection. The capacity of the seed tank has also been increased 30% to 130 bushels.

Another factory-installed option includes the ability to swap out tires for tracks on the 2022 John Deere 1775NT planters. The switch to tracks improves flotation and reduces ground pressure up to 73%, when fully loaded, to 13.3 psi. When half full, these planters can maintain a transport speed of up to 20 mph for up to two hours. Farmers can also add a premium LED lighting package, which helps extend prime working days well into the night.

Planter and 8RX tractor pairing

When a 2022 planter is paired with the integrated ExactRate tank on an 8RX tractor, the combined liquid capacity climbs to 1,600 gallons. Kevin Juhl says the evolutionary planting solution can increase capacity, minimize soil compaction, and precisely place seed and fertilizer.

"A John Deere ExactRate, fluid-transfer-equipped planter is designed to work seamlessly with 8RX tractors fitted with ExactRate tractor tanks to provide additional fluid-carrying capacity and allow you to apply high rates of nitrogen at planting without sacrificing planting efficiency or increasing soil compaction," says Juhl, marketing manager for John Deere. "Multiple independent studies have shown that fertilizer applied at the time of planting provides the best opportunity for plant health, on-time maturity, and increased bushels per acre. When farmers think about 1,600 gallons being applied at 20 gallons per acre, it means they could plant up to 80 acres of corn between fills."

Through the John Deere Operations Center, farmers can plan planting and then monitor the entire planting solution before, during, and after planting. "The Operations Center lets you monitor your farm from anywhere, analyze machine and agronomic data, and share information with your trusted advisers while making decisions," Juhl says.

Monitor fertilizer and seed data in the cab with the Generation 4 Display. Streamed in real time through a JDLink connection to the Operations Center, this information helps you keep an eye on the performance of every row unit. With the Connect Mobile app, you can compare planting data with previous years. Once the season is complete, farmers can study seed variety and fertilizer performance using the Field Analyzer tool in the Operations Center.

"Farmers now have a complete package of integrated John Deere equipment and technology to help them plant more acres and apply higher rates of fertilizer without sacrificing planting efficiency while minimizing soil compaction," Juhl says.

The planter and tractor are sold separately. Model year 2022 planters can be ordered later this summer. Learn more by visiting JohnDeere.com.
