John Deere and DeLaval have formed a strategic partnership to create the Milk Sustainability Center (MSC). This cloud-based ecosystem will be open for partners to join with the goal of providing dairy farmers the data they need for a holistic view of their operations.

MSC will be able to monitor nutrient-use efficiency (NUE) for nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium, and carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) across their entire farm, specific fields, or their herd. The MSC will also allow farmers to compare their performance to other dairy operations and identify areas for improvement.

“Dairy farming is perhaps the most complex agriculture business today with no system integration between crop and animal performance,” says Dave Chipak, director, dairy and livestock production systems at John Deere. “Dairy farmers often use five to seven different, non-connected software solutions to run their business. The MSC will enable dairy farmers to calculate, benchmark, simulate, and optimize NUE and CO2e for sustainable and profitable decision-making.”

Data from John Deere Operations Center and DeLaval Plus can be automatically pulled into the MSC, to reduce manual input and ensure high data quality. Dairy farmers, consultants, dealers, and other partners can also be invited to view data in MSC. MSC aims to serve dairy farmers independent of farm machinery brands and herd management software.

The software was designed and powered by Data Warehouse BV, and will be available on desktop and mobile devices. The initial version of MSC will launch in summer 2024 in North America for free. A premium version with additional features will be launched at a later date.
