The proven reliability and durability of John Deere's 9 series round balers at a lower price point – that's what John Deere's promising with the new 459E baler.

"What makes the 459E unique in our model lineup is what you see is what you get," says Jeremy Unruh of John Deere. "We kept it simple by not offering a lot of options." The 4x5-foot baler is available with one tire size, one pickup size, and can be equipped with net or twine. You can add gathering wheels, gauge wheels, or a ramp, but that's about it.

By keeping it simple, the baler comes in the affordable range of $21,000 to $22,000. For comparison, the next model in the 9 series lineup – the 459 – starts around $25,000 and goes up to $35,000, depending on the options selected.

That low price is quite a bargain for John Deere's Edge-to-Edge net wrap, according to Unruh. Compared to twine, baling with net wrap is 75% faster and results in 30 to 60% less spoilage, which means you will end up with more, higher quality forage.

Like other balers in the 9 series, the 459E comes with the BaleTrak Pro Monitor that allows you to monitor and control important baler functions and an adjustable hitch.

"The 459E is compatible with many tractor sizes, is easy to setup and operate, and is a great fit for many beef, dairy, equine, and haying operations," adds Unruh.

The 459E comes equipped with six Diamond Belts, which cover more than 90% of the bale chamber to reduce leaf loss. The small diameter pickup also ensures that the crop is fed to the bale chamber with reduced leaf loss, resulting in densely packed, consistent sized bales.
