Corn crop progress The USDA says as of July 14, 41% of the 2024 corn crop in the top 18 corn-growing states is silking. This is up from 24% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 32%. The report says 8% of the corn crop across 11 of those states has reached the dough growth stage. This is up from 3% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 4%. According to the report, the condition of the corn crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Corn crop condition July 14 July 7 Good/excellent 68% 68% Fair 23% 23% Poor/very poor 9% 9% Soybean crop progress The USDA says 51% of the soybean crop in the top 18 growing states is blooming. This is up from 34% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 44%. Eighteen percent of soybeans are setting pods across 17 of those states. This is up from 9% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 12%. According to the report, the condition of the soybean crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Soybean crop condition July 14 July 7 Good/excellent 68% 68% Fair 24% 24% Poor/very poor 8% 8% Oat crop progress The USDA says 91% of oats are headed in the top nine producing states. This is up from 83% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 90%. Sixteen percent of oats across seven of the top producing states has been harvested. This is ahead of the five-year average of 12% According to the report, the condition of the oat crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Oat crop condition July 14 July 7 Good/excellent 66% 67% Fair 23% 22% Poor/very poor 11% 11% Spring wheat progress The USDA says 76% of spring wheat has headed across the top six growing states. This is up from 59% the week prior but behind the five-year average of 78%. The report rates the spring wheat crop condition in the top growing states as follows: 2024 Spring wheat crop condition July 14 July 7 Good/excellent 77% 75% Fair 20% 21% Poor/very poor 3% 4% Winter wheat progress The USDA says winter wheat harvest has begun in 17 of the top 18 growing states and is 71% complete.
