Corn crop progress The USDA says as of June 30, 11% of the 2024 corn crop is silking across 13 of the top 18 growing states. This is up from 4% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 6%. According to the report, the condition of the corn crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Corn crop condition June 30 June 23 Good/excellent 67% 69% Fair 24% 24% Poor/very poor 9% 7% Soybean crop progress The USDA says 95% of the soybean crop in the top 18 growing states is out of the ground. That’s up from 90% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 93%. Twenty percent of soybeans are blooming across those states. This is up from 8% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 15%. Three percent of soybeans are setting pods across seven of the top 18 growing states. This is slightly ahead of the five-year average of 2%. This is up from 61% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 71%. According to the report, the condition of the oat crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Oat crop condition June 30 June 23 Good/excellent 67% 67% Fair 22% 22% Poor/very poor 11% 11% Winter wheat progress The USDA says harvest has begun in 13 of the top 18 growing states and is 54% complete. That is up from 40% the week prior and is ahead of the five-year average of 39%. According to the report, the condition of the winter wheat crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Winter wheat crop condition June 30 June 23 Good/excellent 51% 52% Fair 34% 33% Poor/very poor 15% 15% Spring wheat progress The USDA says 38% of spring wheat has headed across the top six growing states. This is up from 18% the week prior and 1 percentage point ahead of the five-year average.
