Corn crop progress The USDA says as of July 7, 24% of the 2024 corn crop is silking across all of the top 18 growing states. This is up from 11% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 14%. The report says 3% of the crop across eight of those 18 states has reached the dough stage. This is slightly ahead of the five-year average of 2%. According to the report, the condition of the corn crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Corn crop condition July 7 June 30 Good/excellent 68% 67% Fair 23% 24% Poor/very Poor 9% 9% Soybean crop progress The USDA says 34% of soybeans are blooming in the top 18 growing states. That’s up up from 20% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 28%. Nine percent of soybeans are setting pods across 16 of those 18 states. That's up from 3% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 5%. According to the report, the condition of the soybean crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Soybean crop condition July 7 June 30 Good/excellent 68% 67% Fair 24% 25% Poor/very poor 8% 8% Oat crop progress The USDA says 83% of oats are headed in the top nine producing states. This is up from 74% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 82%. According to the report, the condition of the oat crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Oat crop condition July 7 June 30 Good/excellent 67% 67% Fair 22% 22% Poor/very poor 11% 11% Spring wheat progress The USDA says 59% of spring wheat has headed across the top six growing states. This is up from 38% the week prior and slightly behind of the five-year average of 60%. The report rates the spring wheat crop condition in the top growing states as follows: 2024 Spring wheat crop condition July 7 June 30 Good/excellent 75% 72% Fair 21% 24% Poor/very poor 4% 4% Winter wheat progress The USDA says harvest has begun in 17 of the top 18 winter wheat growing states and is 63% complete.
