Corn crop progress The USDA says as of June 23, 97% of the 2024 corn crop in the top 18 corn-growing states has emerged. This is up from 93% the week prior and slightly ahead of the five-year average of 96%. Four percent of corn is silking across nine of the top 18 growing states. This is slightly ahead of the five-year average of 3%. According to the report, the condition of the corn crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Corn crop condition June 23 June 16 Good/excellent 69% 72% Fair 24% 23% Poor/very poor 7% 5% 9 Top corn-growing states report silking Soybean crop progress The USDA says soybean planting progress in the top 18 growing states is at 97%, up from 93% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 95%.Ninety percent of the crop in those states is out of the ground. That’s up from 82% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 87%. Eight percent of soybeans are blooming across 17 of the top 18 growing states. This is ahead of the five-year average of 6%. According to the report, the condition of the soybean crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Soybean crop condition June 23 June 16 Good/excellent 67% 70% Fair 25% 25% Poor/very poor 8% 5% Oat crop progress The USDA says 61% of oats are headed in the top nine producing states. This is up from 50% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 58%. According to the report, the condition of the oat crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Oat crop condition June 23 June 16 Good/excellent 67% 67% Fair 22% 22% Poor/very poor 11% 11% Winter wheat progress The USDA says 97% of winter wheat has headed across all of the top 18 growing states. This is up from 94% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 95%. The report says harvest has begun in 12 of those states and is 40% complete. That is up from 27% the week prior and is ahead of the five-year average of 25%. According to the report, the condition of the winter wheat crop in the top growing states rates as follows: 2024 Winter wheat crop condition June 23 June 16 Good/excellent 52% 49% Fair 33% 34% Poor/very poor 15% 17% Spring wheat progress The USDA says 18% of spring wheat has headed across the top six growing states. This is up from 4% the week prior and in line with the five-year average.
