Corn crop progress The USDA says as of June 9, 95% of the 2024 corn crop has been planted in the top 18 corn-growing states. This is up from 91% the week prior and in line with the five-year average. A total of 85% of the corn crop in those states has emerged. That’s up from 74% the week prior and slightly ahead of the five-year average of 84%. According to the report, the condition of the corn crop in the top growing states rates as follows: Corn crop condition June 9 June 2 Good/excellent 74% 75% Fair 21% 21% Poor/very poor 5% 4% Soybean crop progress USDA says soybean planting progress in the top 18 growing states is at 87%, up from 78% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 84%.A total of 70% of the crop in those states is out of the ground. That’s up from 55% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 66%. According to the report, the condition of the soybean crop in the top growing states rates as follows: Soybean crop condition June 9 Good/excellent 72% Fair 24% Poor/very poor 4% Oat crop progress The USDA says 92% of the oat crop has emerged in the top nine growing states, up from 87% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 90%. Oats are headed in all of the top nine growing states, at a total of 41%. This is up from 33% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 36%. According to the report, the condition of the oat crop in the top growing states rates as follows: Oat crop condition June 9 June 2 Good/excellent 70% 68% Fair 20% 23% Poor/very poor 10% 9% Winter wheat progress USDA says 89% of winter wheat has headed across all of the top 18 growing states. This is up from 83% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 86%. The report says harvest has begun in eight of those states and is 12% complete. That is up from 6% the week prior and is ahead of the five-year average of 6%. According to the report, the condition of the winter wheat crop in the top growing states rates as follows: Winter wheat crop condition June 9 June 2 Good/excellent 47% 49% Fair 34% 33% Poor/very poor 19% 18% Spring wheat progress The USDA says spring wheat planting progress in the top six growing states is at 98%, up from 94% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 96%. A total of 87% of the crop in those states is out of the ground, up from 78% the week prior and ahead of the five-year average of 83%.
