Kinze is introducing a new pivot fold, split row model planter designed to enhance productivity, convenience, and serviceability.

The Kinze 5670 planter is all-new from front to back, says Susanne Veatch, president of Kinze Manufacturing. This new model is Kinze’s latest addition to its electric 5000 Series planter lineup debuting for the 2024 planting season, alongside the 5900 and 5700 front fold planters.

“Building on the proven design of our 5900 and 5700 model planters, the 5670 is packed with standard features that boost productivity in diverse planting environments, along with expanded controls and conveniences for the operator,” says Veatch.

The 5670 can be used as a dedicated narrow-row planter or a multi-crop planting workhorse. It will be available in 12/23-row and 16/31-row configurations, and will plant at both 15- and 30-inch row widths.

Planter features

The 5670 planters have electric drive push and pull row units with residue control, closing wheel, fertilizer, and seed handling options to meet the needs of each farm.

“The push row unit is attached to a separate front toolbar and the parallel arms are attached to the back of the row unit and then pushed through the field,” says Brad Niensteadt, lead product specialist at Kinze. “The push unit allows us to support narrow row 15-inch planting, offer a well balanced bar, and best in class residue flow. The pull unit is on the same toolbar, and both are pulled or pushed at the same time.”

The 5670 features a new frame with 24 inches of toolbar clearance, 12 inches of row unit travel, and adjustable active hydraulic weight transfer. It also has up to 30° of wing flex, VF radial tires, and a narrow transport width. The frame supports simultaneous use of bulk-fill hoppers, push split row units, and an optional onboard fertilizer tank.

The onboard fertilizer system is controlled by the Blue Vantage display, with a 300 gallon capacity and diaphragm-style pump for delivery rates of 2-25 gallons per acre. A factory-installed plumbing system connecting to a saddle or nurse tank, and tank-leveling system are available as options.

Kinze’s True Rate vacuum electric meters can plant a wide variety of seeds at speeds up to 8 mph, designed for accurate seed spacing and depth control. The True Depth system provides 650 pounds of hydraulic downforce and 150 pounds of uplift force, and standard adjustable active hydraulic weight transfer.

Kinze has also reduced maintenance requirements for the 5670 with fewer grease points, easier adjustments, and long-life components. This includes greaseless and shim-less gauge wheel pivot arms, large cast parallel arms equipped with double bushings, disc openers with double-row bearings and hardened scrapers, and greaseless row markers.

Pricing and availability

The Kinze 5670 pivot fold, split row model planter will go up for order around April this year, with pricing information available through your local Kinze dealer. The planter will make its public debut at the 2024 National Farm Machinery show in Louisville, Kentucky, where it will be shown alongside the previously announced 5900 and 5700 front fold planters.
