This version of the Tempo planter borrows elements from the Wil-Rich 10K planter bar, which Väderstad acquired in 2021. “The Tempo concept has proven itself over many years in Europe and even holds the world record for number of corn acres planted in 24 hours,” says Oskar Karlsson, director of planter product management for Väderstad. “Now, we’re launching the Tempo K with industry-leading capacities and a track system, making it extremely practical for use here. I think North American farmers will come to appreciate the simple design concepts and unmatched precision capabilities. We’re standing behind this product with North American manufacturing and an extensive parts plan to keep our customers running.” Performance specs The Tempo K is available in a 24-row configuration with 30-inch row spacing. The planter has a 150-bushel central seed hopper, with the option of twin 750 gallon liquid fertilizer tanks. To balance the weight, the planter is built with tracks for increased flotation in the field. The Tempo K is designed for even emergence with exact seed spacing and planting at consistent seed depth at speed between 8 to 12 mph. This model is designed for corn and soybeans, and can handle small-seeded crops like sugar beets and canola with a small seeds kit, adding stop wheels and specialized closing wheels for planting in shallow depths. The planter uses Väderstad’s PowerShoot seed metering unit, which uses positive air pressure to prevent vibrations, slopes, or other in-field factors as it guides the seed into the furrow. Each seed meter has its own electric drive, controlled by Väderstad E-Control iPad app, making the Tempo K capable of individual row shut-off to eliminate double planting. Hydraulic weight transfer and row unit down pressure systems are included as standard for consistent seed depth and even emergence. A variety of row cleaner and closing wheel systems will be available to order with the planter to match different farming operations and tillage practices. Availability The Väderstad Tempo K high-speed planter, as well as the Tempo F 6-8, Tempo L 8-32, and Tempo V 6-12 planters will be available to order in North America starting June 1.
