Great Plains is expanding its box drill lineup with the new BD7410 featuring a narrow transport width under 10 feet.

The BD7410 builds on the Great Plains’ BD7600 line with the same components such as the box, seed meters, and ground drive transmissions, now in a form ideal for narrow road transportation, says Tony Wisker, vice president of sales and marketing for Great Plains.

“The BD7410 brings our 1300 drill into the BD era, making transport easy with excellent ground clearance and a simple folding process,” says Doug Stucky, drill-line product manager for Great Plains. “Once the two transport locks are released, the drill folds and unfolds with a lever in the tractor cab. Our engineers designed this unit to have a built-in sequence, so the drill completes one process right after the other with one single hydraulic lever.”

The new box drill is available in 6-, 7.5-, and 10-inch row spacing depending on the farmer’s needs. The main box has a maximum capacity of 50.5 bushels, and can have an optional small seeds box with a capacity of 6.3 bushels. An optional split-box configuration can carry two products at a time, and apply them at different rates, with a fertilizer capacity up to 45% of the main seed box.

The BD7410 has Great Plains’ 00 Series Openers with a welded design and 13.5-inch, offset double disc blades, designed to slice through residue and fully-penetrate the soil. Press wheel options are available to best match soil conditions.

Great Plains app

To coincide with the release of the BD7410, Great Plains has launched the free GreatPlainsAg mobile app for Android and iOS devices. This includes features to help farmers track and manage their Great Plains drill inventory, calibrate their implement with a step-by-step calibration-assistant tool for improved seeding accuracy, and locate nearby Great Plains dealers.

This also includes access to manuals and maintenance guides for all current Great Plains drill models, including the BD7410, BD7600, min-till folding drills, compact drills, and more.

The BD7410 box drill is available to order now. Great Plains will begin production this summer, with delivery in the fall. For more information about the BD7410 and Great Plains’ product lineup, visit greatlainsag.com.
