Last year, Mandy — who was born with a kidney defect — was placed on the waiting list for a kidney transplant. There is just a one in 100,000 chance that a non-relative will be a suitable kidney donor, but Jason was a match for his wife. The transplant was performed in February. Mandy Dittmer Jason looked at me in the very beginning and said, ‘I’m going to be your match,’ and I said, ‘Honey, you’re not. We’re not related, we don’t have the same blood type, there’s no way….
