Deanne Frieders is an Illinois farmer better known as a cookbook author and the woman behind the blog and podcast This Farm Girl Cooks, which is now a full-time job. I sat down with her to discuss how she found her role on her husband's family farm, the importance of friendship, and the art of making the perfect field meal.

I first met Frieders at a Women in Ag conference when we happened to be sitting at the same table. She says conferences like that are so helpful for combatting the isolation that can be felt on the farm.

With those events, there’s so much backstory that people inherently know. There’s no explanation needed. We gel so well. Women in agriculture are very supportive of each other and that’s something I didn’t anticipate, and I love.
