CNH Industrial, parent company of Case IH and New Holland, announced it will be providing farmers with wider access to high-speed internet via satellite connection, through a collaboration with Intelsat.

“As the first satellite communications company to provide multi-orbit connectivity to farmers around the world, Intelsat’s collaboration with CNH will unlock new capabilities in the most remote locations through our global communications platform,” says Dave Wajsgras, CEO of Intelsat.

Intelsat operates one of the world’s largest integrated satellite communication (SATCOM) networks. With 60 years of experience in SATCOM, Intelsat will now provide multi-orbit internet access to connect Case IH and New Holland equipment to the internet in remote locations.

The company has rugged terminals already serving industrial applications, like for the military and airline industry. Customers will be able to access the internet via these terminals, which are designed to withstand extreme weather conditions and the vibration and shock produced by farming equipment.

“Satellite technology helps solve complex connectivity challenges for hard-to-reach farms, but not all providers are equal,” says Marc Kermisch, chief digital and information officer at CNH Industrial. “Intelsat stands out for their depth of experience as well as the quality and reliability of their service and industrial terminal offerings. They get what it means to be rugged. We look forward to serving customers around the world with their solution.”

CNH Industrial will be launching this service in Brazil during the second half of 2024, where ConectarAgro’s Rural Connectivity Indicator found only 19% of agricultural land has high-speed internet access. The companies plan to expand this service to the United States, Australia, and other regions at a later time.
