In the first report of soybean conditions for the growing season, USDA said at least 75% of the crop in these five states are rated good/excellent.
Louisiana
According to USDA’s Crop Progress report for the week ending June 9, Louisiana had the largest percentage of soybeans rated good/excellent, at 83%. Louisiana is the only state of the top-producing states that does not have any soybeans rated less than fair.
Statewide, soybean conditions rated 0% very poor, 0% poor, 17% fair, 80% good, and 3% excellent.
South Dakota
As of the week ending June 9, South Dakota was in second place for highest percentage of soybeans rated good to excellent with 80%. Only 2% of the state’s soybeans rated less than fair.
South Dakota soybeans overall rated 0% very poor, 2% poor, 18% fair, 70% good, and 10% excellent.
Nebraska
USDA said 79% of Nebraska’s soybeans were in good/excellent shape as of June 9. With 19%, Nebraska has the highest percentage of excellent soybeans compared to all top soybean-producing states. Only 2% of the Nebraska soybean crop rated less than fair.
The specific soybean conditions for Nebraska were 0% very poor, 2% poor, 19% fair, 60% good, and 19% excellent.
North Carolina
USDA said 77% of North Carolina’s soybeans were in good/excellent condition.
North Carolina’s soybean conditions rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 18% fair, 72% good, and 5% excellent.
Ohio
The state of Ohio rounds out the top five with exactly 75% soybeans rated in good to excellent condition as of June 9, according to USDA.
Overall, Ohio’s soybean conditions rated 1% very poor, 4% poor, 20% fair, 60% good, and 15% excellent.
