Project Overview
- Working Time: 3 hours
Farmer Jordan Kimball of Noonan, North Dakota, wanted to be able to carry all his grinders and their accessories to the worksite. So he created a box from scrap lumber and PVC pipe to house his grinder, cut off blades, and wire brushes.
His set up allows universal storage of any 4- or 4½-inch angle grinder, corded or cordless, and with or without handles, as well as various accessories.

- Start with 1x6-inch lumber and ¾-inch plywood back. The compartments that cradle the grinders and grinder attachments were created from 6-inch diameter PVC.
- Use a band or table saw to cut the pipe lengthwise.
- Measure out the sides of the box to be 24 ¼-inches long, and make the ends 25-inches long. The sides are attached to the inside of the ends.
- Cut 6-inch PVC pipe cut in half lengthways.
- Cut PVC halves to lay the grinders in at 18-inch lengths. Cut holes in these compartments to accommodate grinder handles.
- Cut the PVC half for accessories 24-inches long. A length of 1x4-inch lumber divides the grinder components from blades or wire wheel spots. Half moon dividers for this PVC half are cut from ½-inch plywood. Attach dividers to the PVC cradle using wood screws.
- Make sure the final square box frame is 25-inches long and wide. Half-circle PVC is attached to the box's plywood base using wood screws.
